Wine Specifics
Winery: Spain
VARIETAL: Tempranillo
REGION: Navarra
WINE TYPE: Red Wine
The Tempranillo grape is the preeminent red wine grape of Spain. Tempranillo ripens well ahead of its frequent blending partner Grenache, thus the name (Temprano in Spanish means early). It’s most famous growing regions are Rioja and Ribera del Duero, but fine examples can be found from Toro to Navarra. In the day, Kosher meant sickly sweet, mostly mediocre wines (think Man, oh Manishewitz), but that is no longer the case as more & more kosher wines are available that are often quite good. The world of kosher wine is broad & varied from Champagne and fine Bordeaux to New Zealand Sauvignon Blanc and Chilean Cabernet Sauvignon as well as this beautiful Spanish Tempranillo.Quote
This wonderful Tempranillo does not sacrifice flavor to be kosher. The nose is reminiscent of a somewhat tart cherry pie. The wine is dry with plenty of plum & ripe cherry fruit with a hint of earth & tobacco. Celebrate the holidays with a moist brisket & this dry, full-bodied wine.
